An Introduction to Erin

Hey y'all!

If you're here, it's probably because you know me from something writing related like Viable Paradise, Clarion West, Writers of the Future, or sff.net. (Or perhaps it's from general con-going awesomeness or my intermittent long term internet writing/blogging presence. ;))

Most entries on this journal are friendslocked due to the public nature of my real life profession (burn ward RN) and because I'm an introverted exhibitionist, which means unless you're on my friendslist, you'll never see them. Feel free to msg me to say hi, or to just go ahead and friends me, k? I don't mind the company, I just prefer to keep it behind closed doors ;).

(It has been recently pointed out to me that I curse a lot. It's true. If that bothers you, don't sign on board. Or peek in, but then feel free to run away.)

Due to work schedules, I tend to drop off the face of the planet for a week at a time, every other week. I do keep up with correspondence in a timely fashion, but please give me a few days to reply.

Thanks!

[Edited to add -- from here on out, this journal is friends-only. It's not being updated much, but I need to lock down everything. Feel free to email me, I'm still friendly ;)]

Hey, just wanted to drop a note that I'm a CW05 grad, here because I like to get to know the new year's classes.

Neat icon, by the way.

Hi Erin, this is Mike, another CW 07 student. I thought I'd go ahead and add your LJ.

June 17th is coming faster than it seemed possible. I'm excited and terrified all at once. :)

Hey Erin, this is phill from A&M. I've had your "spider song" page bookmarked for years and now I know why you stopped updating it. good thing you come up first on google:therinth.

I'll try to see what I missed after so long (didn't you used to be E.C.D.)

Drop me a line or read up on the growing gaggle of kids .

Hello Erin,

My name's Justin. I'm entered in the second quarter for the WOTF (2008). I haven't won yet, *fingers crossed* but just looking to make some friends with similar interests. I found you off Sonia's LJ. She placed second in the same quarter.

Congratualtions on your big win!

Re: Don't even know how to start
Looks like someone needs to look up "ad hominem attack" in a book of basic logic.

Yes, I am aware of the irony of writing that.

You know who else made a lot of ad hominem attacks? HITLER.

Hey, this is marshaldillon (LJ), or Swamp (EA forums). I just had a question. How did you set up this post to always remain on top?

This post is from the future, that's how ;)

I have a girlfriend who has a private future post with all her personal info hidden, just in case anyone needs it -- i liked the idea of having a placeholder there.

LJ won't show posts in your flist that have an edited timestamp tho, FYI, so it's only really useful for this sort of thing -- if you try to "pre-post" something you want people to see for real, hardly anyone will see it unless they make a practice of coming to your actual homepage.

Hope that helps!

Completely not related to anything, but this post.

Wow. Burn ward. I'm impressed. I don't know if I could do it. Thank you.

(I was, for a brief time, possessed of a reservation for the burn ward [and the special Gulf Stream ambulance plane] to Ft. Sam Houston's Burn Ward. Thankfully I didn't manifest a massive case of Stevens-Johnson's Syndrome)

Aie! We see a lot of those. (Well, it feels like a lot, but we get them from a wide area.)

I scanned your lj some after reading some of your articles -- thank you for the difficult work that you do, as well.

Do you write fiction, or do we just happen to know a lot of the same people?

We know a lot of the same people, some of whom; it seems, hold me in a high regard.

I can't write fiction. I can write small set pieces, with nice description, but the larger item, with plotting, structure and direction escape me.

I did do journalism.

If you care (and I appreciate it if you don't, shop talk and all that, the specifics of my bout with Stevens-Johnson's is here

Random reader here.Saw your post on Robin Hobb's site(huge fan of hers!)and subsequently noticed you are an RN(burn ward, ouch!)in Oregon(?).I have a cousin who is an RN(I forget the term-works with newborns)in Las Vegas and wants to move up here to the PNW(I'm in Wa.).He seems to think Portland is the best bet.I was wondering if you had any advice I could give him? Cheers! (Cool LJ you have here!)

Re: greetings!
Hi there! Actually, I live in the Bay Area, I was just traveling in Oregon this past weekend. So I don't have any advice, I'm sorry. Portland is a great town tho, and so is Seattle. I'm not sure how cost of living and nursing pay work up there, but they're both gorgeous places to live.
